Students are invited on the recommendation of Miss Purr. In the autumn term the students follow a rigorous course of Pilates based stretch and conditioning work every second week, which they are expected to continue in their own time throughout the rest of the year. The classes are unset ballet classes designed to expand the young dancers vocabulary and give them an opportunity to try more complex moves that they wouldn't necessarily be faced with in their weekly syllabus class. The class also helps prepare the students for auditioning for associate schemes such as Chantry Dance Company, Ballet Theatre UK or Midland Associates, as well as full time vocational dance school. In the spring term the students focus on pointe work and allegro, the two areas of class that can sometimes be neglected. In the summer term the senior pre majors class get plenty of opportunity to perform and represent Welland school of dancing at fetes, festivals and displays, which form a mini "Welland tour" which the students enjoy enormously.
The senior pre majors have a special burgundy and black leotard which they are expected to wear for this class. Please click here to be taken through to the school uniform shop.
