In the autumn term the students follow a course of Pilates based stretch and conditioning work every second week, which they are expected to continue in their own time throughout the rest of the year. The classes are unset ballet classes designed to expand the young dancers vocabulary and give them an opportunity to try more complex moves that they wouldn't necessarily be faced with in their weekly syllabus class. The class also helps prepare the students for auditioning for associate schemes such as Ballet Theatre UK or Midland Associates, and children's companies such as English Youth Ballet. The junior pre majors class also get plenty of opportunity to perform and represent Welland school of dancing at fetes, festivals and displays and often perform with local companies such as Peterborough Opera and the Stamford Gilbert and Sullivan society. The junior pre majors group also go into care homes to provide dance displays for the elderly residents.
Junior pre majors wear their normal RAD ballet uniform for this class.
