About the workshop:

This workshop will introduce you to strength and conditioning and how it is used to support performance and prevent injuries within The Royal Ballet School. You will gain tools and knowledge to improve your own dance performance, no matter your dance style or skill level. We will consider methods of reducing the risk of injury, to make sure you can keep dancing and performing! There will also be a Q&A on life at The Royal Ballet School. This workshop is suitable for senior students age 11+ with an accompanying adult welcome to join for free.  

About Sophie:

 

Sophie is a Strength and Conditioning Coach at the Royal Ballet School, specialising in rehabilitation. Sophie danced at Welland School of Dancing, practising ballet, tap, modern and hip-hop. She studied at Sheffield Hallam University to achieve a First Class undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science, and a masters degree in Strength and Conditioning Coaching with Distinction. She has ample experience coaching world class athletes, including GB swimming (including coaching athletes to the 2020 Olympics), GB boxing, GB wheelchair basketball, GB para table tennis and GB para-badminton. She also lectures on the Sport and Exercise Science degree at University Centre Peterborough.
